GREGG L. HARTLEY
Vice Chairman & Chief Operating Officer
“Gregg Hartley was one of the most savvy chiefs of staff to a leadership member that I’ve known in 30 years,” stated a prominent Washington lobbyist shortly after Mr. Hartley joined Cassidy & Associates. Along with Gerald Cassidy and Marty Russo, he has been repeatedly ranked as one of the "Top Hired Guns," a list of select professionals published by The Hill.
Gregg Hartley provides Cassidy & Associates’ clients with a connection to a broad number of key Republicans in both the U.S. House and Senate. Mr. Hartley was the senior staffer and advisor for eighteen years to U.S. House of Representative Roy Blunt (R-MO), the former Republican Whip, and his expertise provides Cassidy & Associates’ clients with a competitive advantage. As Chief of Staff to the Whip, he was one of a small number of aides who worked closely with the then Speaker, Majority Leader, Conference Chair, and seven other leadership offices. From the Republican Whip Office, Hartley directed coalition efforts, working with outside groups in “grow the vote” activities.
Mr. Hartley's many relationships are enhanced by his political insights and ability to develop effective legislative strategies. Mr. Hartley serves as Cassidy & Associates Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer, directing the efforts of forty-one government affairs professionals and overseeing the professional services rendered to the firm's 150+ clients. He built and directs the firm’s Communications and Media Practice, leads teams serving commerce, transportation and financial services clients, and is highly involved in the firm's representation of international clients. At Cassidy & Associates, he combines experience in policy, politics and business to be one of the single most far-reaching and effective government relations executives in Washington.
Mr. Hartley worked in then-Governor John Ashcroft’s Administration, as Blunt’s senior political aide in the Missouri Office of the Secretary of State, and in the first term of the Reagan Administration for a quasi-public agency, the Legal Services Corporation, as Director of Field Services. In addition to his extensive political background, Mr. Hartley also worked in the banking, mortgage and securities industries. Early in his career, he led programs for Legal Aid in Southwest Missouri and Southwest Missouri Office on Aging. He also has worked in the banking, mortgage and securities sectors.
