Gallup: Americans Split on Afghanistan

As President Obama nears a decision on the path forward in Afghanistan, Americans are divided in their feelings on the topic.  No doubt, this is a case where the President’s actions, following a very deliberative decision making process, will likely shape public opinion, more than reflect it.

Gallup: GOP Edges Democrats in 2010 Generic Congressional Ballot

According to the latest data from Gallup:

Republicans have moved ahead of Democrats by 48% to 44% among registered voters in the latest update on Gallup’s generic congressional ballot for the 2010 House elections, after trailing by six points in July and two points last month.

2010 is definitely going to be an interesting year.

Gallup: Voters Less Optimistic Obama Can Achieve Goals

According to recent Gallup data, one year after his election, voters are less optimistic that President Obama will be able to achieve his key goals.

However, a majority of Americans still believe Obama will be able to achieve four major goals: increase respect for America abroad, keep the U.S. safe from terrorism, bring troops home from Iraq, and reduce unemployment.

  

Update:  The Bureau of Labor of Statistics now reports that the unemployment rate rose to 10.2 percent in October, the first time unemployment has risen into double digits since 1983.
