Making A Difference In The Community

Serving A Community's Educational Needs

In the fall of 2007, a pacific northwest university engaged the services of Cassidy & Associates to establish its first partnership with the federal government in more than 40 years.

Until this time, they had been one of only two Jesuit universities not seeking federal assistance through appropriations.

The university’s initial goal was to educate their fcongressional delegation about the community benefits they provide to the region and to be recognized as a generator of their city’s economy.

They were also seeking opportunities to build upon their academic programs that address larger national issues as well as fulfilling their Jesuit Catholic mission of education for service and social justice.

Funding Military Base Support and Student Care

In two fiscal cycles, we helped the university communicate their goals to public officials and advance their mission in meaningful ways:

  • They secured $1,000,000 from the Department of Defense to expand the research capabilities of their College of Nursing that partners with regional military bases
  • They received $800,000 from the Department of Education for their Fostering Scholars program that provides full academic scholarships, room and board to students who have aged out of the foster care system.
  • The university’s profile was significantly raised among its congressional delegation that regularly visits campus for lectures and visits.
The university was able to provide additional support for their students and the greater community due to the assistance from the federal government.
