Andrew Forbes

Andrew E. Forbes, Senior Associate, comes to Cassidy & Associates with a robust legislative background and strong knowledge of the appropriations process. Along with his contacts on both sides of Capitol Hill, Andrew has a comprehensive understanding of the how to assist clients in developing strategies to achieve their goals.

Andrew’s policy background runs in many directions. In January 2010, he began work for the State of Florida’s Washington, DC office. There he worked with the Secretary of Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to make sure the State’s interests with issues pertaining to environment, energy, fish and wildlife, water management and natural resources were represented in Congress. In this capacity, he also worked closely with the Florida Senators’ and Congressional Delegation staff to ensure that the State’s needs were met at the federal level. As DEP was the lead state agency during the Deepwater Horizon disaster, Andrew served as their primary contact in Washington on any issues related to the spill.

Andrew began his professional career with the Rhoads Group assisting the team on BRAC and transportation related issues. He then went to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee where he worked with senior staff on the 2005 Highway Bill, as well as for Chairman John Mica on the Aviation Subcommittee. Andrew finished his Capitol Hill career as a Senior Legislative Assistant for a member of the Central Florida Delegation where he handled numerous issues, including all appropriations, judiciary, defense, energy and transportation. During his time there, Andrew worked hard with the Congressman and congressional committees and staff to be sure Central Florida business solutions and creativity were recognized with federal investments.

A native Virginian, Andrew earned a BA in International Relations from Lafayette College in Easton, PA, where he also served as a captain of the varsity lacrosse team. He is also a graduate of Gonzaga College High School here in the District.
